Lanzhou-Wulumuqi High-speed Railway
connecting Lanzhou city of Gansu province and Urumchi city of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is a high-speed railway ever constructed in a single phase with the world's longest total traffic length.
Most of the land along the Lanzhou-Wulumuqi High-speed Railway is desert and Gobi. The line runs across four Gobi wind zones, Yandun wind zone,100 - kilometer wind area, 30-kilometer wind zone, and Dabancheng wind zone, with total zone length 462km, accounting for 65% of total length in Xinjiang area. The wind zones are characterized with frequent gale, with annually average 208 days of gale greater than Force 8 in some part and the max. wind speed 60m/h, equivalent to Force 17 storm.
